Board Meeting February 2012

By Jennie Struijk

The ASPE Board met in San Diego, CA Feb 1 – 3, 2012 for one of two annual face-to-face meetings.  The board had the opportunity to welcome the new ASPE President, Gayle Gliva-McConvey, and to thank the Immediate Past President, Karen Reynolds, for her dedicated service.

The committees have a number of new initiatives that will  be rolled out over the next months (and reported on in ASPE News!) but significant areas of focus include: increasing ASPE scholarship opportunities, coordination across the simulation sphere with other organizations and associations, responding to the increased focus on interprofessional education and the role of ASPE within, and an expanded international presence for ASPE, including reduced-fee memberships for educators in developing countries.

In addition, the board approved the 2012 budget.   Finance Vice-President Joey Woodyard reports:

The Finance Committee has been working with the Membership Committee on finding a software solution for managing the membership database and membership cycles. The goal is to enable rolling membership throughout the year.

ASPE currently has $28,000 in Checking and $60,000 in Savings. The 2012 Budget was balanced and approved during the BOD Meeting this month.

Thank you to all board and committee members for your hard work at the meeting and throughout the year.  Interested in participating on the ASPE board or in a committee?  Please contact aspe@aspeducators.org for more information.
