With the annual conference just around the corner, I want to express how excited I am to meet our new members, and to welcome back those who are returning. This year’s conference is packed with exciting opportunities and events, but I wanted to highlight a few that have been specifically designed for the membership. 
On Sunday, June 23 we will be hosting a meet and greet from 1:00 to 2:00 pm for new members, as well as first time conference attendees. In addition to connecting with fellow ASPE members, you will have the chance to hear from ASPE’s very own Board of Directors! As you all can imagine, our Board is very popular at the annual meeting – constantly working to ensure that everything runs smoothly, while also dealing with our endless fan requests for autographs and pictures. Ok, maybe not the second part. Still, the meet and greet is your chance as a member to have the board all to yourselves ; use this opportunity to share your ideas about how we can improve ASPE for you, pick our brains about our personal experiences in SP education, or just come say hello! We love putting a face to the names of our members. And rumor has it that there may even be a raffle…
As chair of the membership committee, I also wanted to take this time before the conference to ask all members, new and old, to consider the idea of becoming an active member on the membership committee, or any other committee that piques your interest. You will have the chance to learn about all of ASPE’s committees during the Committee “Meet-n- Greet” lunch, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.
I also want to encourage all of you to approach me at any time during the conference if you have any questions about the requirements of becoming a committee member, or just to learn more about what it entails!
